Thinking back, my total investment in this CRX amounts to about $6000. That includes: the car, donor Integra, tools, parts, transport from California, my airfare to California, rental car and meals. Six grand may seem either like a lot of money or nothing at all depending on the context and how you see things. In this case, I ‘d say it was worth every penny of it.
Once it was built and restored, all I did was put in gas and drive. I didn’t have to do a single repair on the car. Nothing. Not even a light bulb or a fuse. It’s been over 2 years and over 20,000 miles since the build. The car starts every time in freezing cold or boiling hot weather. That’s remarkable even for a brand new car. But for a car that has over quarter of a million miles on its chassis and the engine internals that have been running for over 190,000 miles, it’s truly, marvelously, speechlessly amazing. Every time I drive my CRX it never fails to impress with the way it drives and feels. Not to mention I’m saving about $1000 in gas per year by commuting in the CRX instead of the Subaru Outback.
Not many cars that I have owned was as confidence inspiring and trustworthy as this one. This CRX is just amazingly reliable, period. I would not hesitate to take my CRX cross-country. I totally love it. I have owned various Hondas including an Integra, Prelude and S2000 but for me, this CRX turned out to be the best bang for the buck and the most fun and rewarding.
