A Perfect Sleeper
As much fun it is to drive this CRX with the twin-cam heart transplant, it really doesn’t get the respect it deserves from the streets. Because from the outside there isn’t any indication that this thing has the same power-to-weight ratio as the latest VW GTI. It just looks like a 20 year old Japanese econo-hatch. So it’s no wonder so many drivers pull up to the next lane at the stop light avoiding being behind what they think is a slow crappy car. Of course, a few seconds later most of them find out they were dead wrong as they sniff on my exhaust fumes.
Mature car enthusiast will remember that even in stock spec the original CRX Si was no slouch. With twin-cam motor from the Integra plus some weight shaving, my CRX does 0-to-60mph in 6 seconds flat. Also, the car has manual rack-and-pinion and a low center of gravity by design. People are dumbfounded when they see this car take on the cloverleaf freeway entrances/exits at 60+ mph. That kind of performance blows away many so called “sporty” cars of today. The CRX Si in 1987 was about $9500. That’s about $17,000 in today’s money. Can you even buy something that you can call a car with that sort of money today?

Dude, loving the site! Bought an already swapped ’87, black, DC header, twin Jackson racing cams, Jackson pistons, custom rear axle, Koni shocks all the way around, just a monster!
Keep up the awesome work.
sounds like an awesome setup! those parts are really hard to get anymore…
